The Greening of Government Operations (GoGO) framework, developed and co-ordinated by Department of Premier and Cabinet, is the first Statewide initiative in Australia to encourage and support good environmentally sustainable and eco-efficient practice in the operations of government.

Strategy 31: The SA Government has developed a GoGO Framework which includes eight priority areas for greening: Energy, Water, Waste, Built Facilities, Travel and Fleet, Procurement, Human Resources, and Government Policies and Guidelines. As part of the GoGO Framework, all State Government agencies will be implementing an action plan for Priority Area 2: Water Conservation and Wastewater Management.
Completion date: GoGO plans commenced implementation from June 2007. GoGO is an ongoing exercise of continual improvement, culminating in the inclusion of environmental reporting in annual reports by Government Agencies. Lead Agency for Prioirity Area 2 (Water Conservation and Wastewater Management) is SA Water.

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet has worked with other agencies to develop water consumption data reports for sites they own.
In addition to the GoGO initiative, in response to the drought Government agencies (and also industry) have been required since 1 July 2007 to develop a water efficiency plan identifing where water savings can be made in any area of their operations where water is used. The plans have been required to be submitted to SA Water.
Actions for Priority Area 2 in the last period have been:
- Contribution to the overarching Greening of Government Action Plan and reporting by Agencies as part of Annual reports for 2006/07.
- Working with Agencies to develop water consumption data reports for sites they own.
- Maintaining support and communications through a cross-agency working group.
