The SA Government has introduced permanent water conservation measures which mean householders, local government, business and industry now use water more effectively by watering at appropriate times during the day.
The measures have already resulted in the increased use of water efficient devices and improved practices. South Australians have demonstrated widespread support for these measures.

Please note – in October 2006 the measures were replaced by water restrictions to deal with ongoing drought across the State. To find out more visit the SA Water website. |

Reports, progress and links:
SA Water has an on-going education and information campaigns which support Permanent Water Conservation Measures – or water restrictions if these are in force.
SA Water also has a number of water conservation officers employed to support these measures, educate customers and, if necessary, enforce compliance with the measures.
A number of publications and fact sheets are available on the SA Water website, including the following pdf files:
SA Water also offers rebates for some household water saving devices. View current rebates being offered.
SA Water continues to conduct water audits of its largest water users and is looking at options for home voluntary audits and a range of other incentives.
By 2025 savings of about 10 gigalitres a year are expected from the residential sector and 1.5 gigalitres from the recreation sector. Further savings are expected due to the uptake of more efficient appliances and education programs.
