The Hope Valley Reservoir in Adelaide’s northeast is the main water supply for thousands of Adelaide homes in an area from Campbelltown in the east to Flinders Park and Port Adelaide in the west and Wingfield in the north.
Water from the Kangaroo Creek Reservoir on the River Torrens feeds into the Hope Valley Reservoir via gravity-fed open channels and an aqueduct system with an entry point at the Gorge Diversion Weir. This system of open channels and aqueducts was built in 1870 and runs along a five kilometre reserve that is closed to the public.
